Edison screw (ES) is a standard lightbulb socket for electric light bulbs. It was developed by Thomas Edison (1847–1931), patented in 1881, [1] and was licensed in 1909 under General Electric's Mazda trademark. The bulbs have right-hand threaded metal bases (caps) which screw into matching threaded sockets (lamp holders).

The most commonly used A-series light bulb type is an A60 bulb [7] (or its inch-based equivalent, the A19 bulb [2] [4]), which is 60 mm (19 ⁄ 8 in or 2 + 3 ⁄ 8 in) wide at its widest point [3] and approximately 110 mm (4 + 3 ⁄ 8 in) in length. [8] Other sizes with a data sheet in IEC 60064 are A50, A55, A67, A68, A71, A75, and A80.
A GU24 lamp fitting is a bi-pin connector for compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) or LED lamps that uses a bayonet mount–like twist-lock bi-pin connector instead of the Edison screw fitting used on many CFLs, LED lamps and incandescent light bulbs.
A 2010 article in The New York Times noted that some restaurants were hanging hundreds of Edison light bulbs from their ceilings, stating: "Whether in hip hangouts tapping into the popular Victorian industrial look or elegant rooms seeking to warm up their atmosphere, the bulb has become a staple for restaurant designers, in part because it ...
A 23 W spiral compact fluorescent lamp emits about 1,400–1,600 lm. [5] [6] Many compact fluorescent lamps and other alternative light sources are labelled as being equivalent to an incandescent bulb with a specific power. Below is a table that shows typical luminous flux for common incandescent bulbs and their equivalents.
Typical diameters are T12 or T38 (1 + 1 ⁄ 2 in or 38 mm) for larger, often less efficient lamps, T8 or T26 (1 in or 25 mm) for smaller and often energy-saving lamps, and T5 or T16 (5 ⁄ 8 in or 16 mm) for very small lamps, which may even operate from a battery-powered device.
