María Guardiola Martín (born 5 December 1978) [1] is a Spanish People's Party (PP) politician serving as the President of the Autonomous Government of Extremadura since 2023. After two decades as a civil servant within the Government of Extremadura , Guardiola was elected to the city council in her hometown of Cáceres in 2015.
The government of María Guardiola was formed on 21 July 2023, following the latter's election as President of Extremadura by the Assembly of Extremadura on 14 July and her swearing-in on 17 July, as a result of the People's Party (PP) and Vox being able to muster a majority of seats in the Assembly following the 2023 Extremaduran regional election.
