Drinkwater's best known role was as Steve Temple (née Louise Harvey but in the earlier radio serials was a Fleet Street journalist using the name Steve Trent) [5] the wife of writer/detective Paul Temple (Francis Matthews), in Paul Temple (1969–71). This was a co-production by the BBC and Taurus films of Munich, West Germany.
He is also known for his portrayal of Dr. Petrie in a series of five low budget Dr. Fu Manchu films in the 1960s, and playing Paul Temple in the BBC Radio serialisations. [ 4 ] He was the grandson of writer F. Marion Crawford .
