Lizard Mound State Park is located in the Town of Farmington, north of West Bend, Wisconsin on County Trunk "A", one mile east of State Highway 144. Established in 1950, the park was acquired by Washington County from the State of Wisconsin in 1986.

The trail is 25 miles long. It passes through the cities of West Bend, Kewaskum, Campbellsport, and ends at the Community Park in Eden, running along the west side of the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest and crossing the Ice Age Trail.
