The Mazda J-family are a range of 60-degree V6 engines featuring a cast-iron cylinder block and alloy heads with belt-driven DOHC or SOHC. It is Mazda's only cast-iron gasoline V6. These engines are found in the Mazda H platform-based Mazda 929, Efini MS-9, and Mazda Luce; as well as the L platform Mazda MPV and S platform Mazda Bongo.
Mazda had used a number of different marques in the Japan market, including Autozam, Eunos, and Efini, although they have been phased out. In the early 1990s Mazda almost created a luxury marque, Amati , to challenge Acura , Infiniti , and Lexus in North America, but this never happened, leaving the near-luxury Millenia to the Mazda brand.

It is based on Ford's global C1 platform, meaning it shares many parts with the Mazda3. The Mazda5 replaced the Mazda MPV as Mazda's minivan offering in most export markets.
