The village's choir became notable when the Universal Music Group album Voices of the Valley was released in November 2006, reaching number 9 on the UK album chart. It became the fastest-selling classical record of all time, achieving gold status in three days and, by 2009, had sold over half a million copies. [ 1 ]
Treverva is the birthplace of the Treverva Male Voice Choir, formed in 1936 by Edgar S. Kessell MBE. [4] The choir itself was originally 24 members strong, mostly Treverva men at that time, and is still very active today. Edgar Kessell was the first conductor of the choir, from 1936 until his retirement from ill health in 1979.

Tideswell Cinema was revived in 2005 to bring film once more to the community, with screenings for three seasons at Bishop Pursglove School's hall, before relocating in 2008 to the upper storey of The George Hotel. A number of musical ensembles are also active in the village – notably Tideswell Male Voice Choir and the Tideswell Singers.
