[3] It is one of the three main hospitals in the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust area and is named after William Harvey (1578–1657), the Folkestone-born doctor who discovered the blood circulatory system. The hospital has its origins in the Margate Cottage Hospital which was established at Victoria Road in Margate in 1876. [1] In the 1920s it was decided to relocate the hospital to its current site in St Peters Road. [1]
