The People's Republic of China (PRC) officially refers to itself as a "socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics", but explicitly distinguishing itself from a liberal democratic system, which the CCP calls "unfit" for China's "unique conditions". [26]

[ 73 ] Democracy, in the CCP's understanding of the word, does not mean democracy as practiced in liberal democracies .
