Kate Sessions, San Diego's botanist, park's namesake. Kate Sessions Memorial Park is a public park in San Diego, California, situated at the base of Mount Soledad.It hosts walking trails, picnic tables, barbecues, natural habitat, restrooms, a seasonal creek, a playground and dog friendly spaces.
A bronze statue of Sessions, dedicated in 1998, is situated in a prominent location in Balboa Park, in the southwest corner of Sefton Plaza, near the Sixth Avenue entrance to the park. [14] In 2006, the Women's Museum of California inducted Sessions into the San Diego County Women's Hall of Fame, under the title of Trailblazer. [15] [16]
