The rank is denoted as a full-fledged general to extricate subordinate officers - Lieutenant general and Major general which are also general officers. Major General Ayub Chowdhury is a decorated veteran of Bangladesh Army. He was appointed as the Director General of Department of Immigration & Passports on 29 July 2020 replacing the incumbent, Major General Shakil Ahmed. [3] He retired from his active service in October 2022.
