Saint-Lambert is divided into two main sections: the original city of Saint-Lambert and the Préville neighbourhood. The original city of Saint-Lambert (as it existed prior to 1969) is located from the Country Club of Montreal golf course to the border of the Le Vieux-Longueuil borough. It includes the city's downtown, known as "The Village".
The former city hall of Brossard, became the city hall for the new city of Longueuil. On June 20, 2004, the former boroughs of Boucherville, Brossard, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and Saint-Lambert voted to demerge from Longueuil to reconstitute themselves as municipalities on January 1, 2006. The rest of the city stayed intact.
Excised from part of the Cité de Jacques-Cartier's territory on March 11, 1948, Préville existed as a city in its own right until it was absorbed into Saint-Lambert in 1969. Préville is located in the westernmost part of Saint-Lambert and the neighbourhood is separated from the rest of the city by the Country Club of Montreal golf club.
On January 1, 2002, Le Moyne ceased to exist as a municipality and was amalgamated into the city of Longueuil to become part of the Saint-Lambert/Le Moyne borough. However, on June 20, 2004 Saint-Lambert voted to demerge from Longueuil and on January 1, 2006 regained its status of city, while Le Moyne opted to stay in Longueuil.
Saint-Lambert (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ lɑ̃bɛʁ] ⓘ, locally [sɛ̃ lɑ̃baɛ̯ʁ]) is a parish municipality in northwestern Quebec, Canada, in the Abitibi-Ouest Regional County Municipality. It had a population of 191 in the 2021 Canadian census. The municipality was incorporated on May 14, 1938.
The former city of Longueuil was composed of 3 cities merged in the 1960s: Ville Jacques-Cartier, Montréal-Sud and Longueuil. Since 2006, Le Vieux-Longueuil borough stands for the combination of the former city of Longueuil and LeMoyne. LeMoyne joined Le Vieux-Longueuil borough when Saint-Lambert left the city of Longueuil in 2006.
