Considered to be an easy trail, the Lynn Valley Trail is 8 kilometres long and can be used year-round. Recommended activities include cross-country skiing, cycling, walking, and hiking. Running is not recommended because of the number of people using the trail on a daily basis. The trail is made of compacted soil and is surrounded by forests.
The county ultimately decided in the 2017 budget to cut the trail maintenance budget to $200,000 a year. Further consultations on the viability of the trail have been held. [5] An agreement was reached in December 2021 between VIA Rail, the Counties and the non-profit corporation for the ownership and management of the Trail going forward.
