The 3d Marine Littoral Regiment (3d MLR) is a regiment of the United States Marine Corps that is optimized for littoral maneuver in the Indo-Pacific Theater. Based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii , the regiment falls under the command of the 3rd Marine Division and the III Marine Expeditionary Force .
As part of Force Design 2030 reorganization, CLB-3 realigned under 3d Marine Littoral Regiment in June 2023 and was redesignated as 3d Littoral Logistics Battalion (3d LLB) on 12 September 2023. This redesignation created a 'first of its kind' battalion in the Marine Corps.
The 3rd Marine Division is a division of the United States Marine Corps based at Camp Courtney, Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler in Okinawa, Japan.It is one of three active duty infantry divisions in the Marine Corps and together with the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1stMAW) and the 3rd Marine Logistics Group (3rd MLG) forms the III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF).
3rd Littoral Anti-Air Battalion (3d LAAB) is a United States Marine Corps aviation command and control and air defense unit that is optimized for operations in the first island chain. The battalion is based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii and falls under the command of the 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment and the 3rd Marine Division.
They were again reassigned in April 1971 to the 1st Marine Division. The battalion was deactivated 1 June 1974. [2] 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines was reactivated on 1 October 1975 at MCB Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, and assigned to the 3rd Marine Division. Elements of the battalion deployed to the Western Pacific at various times during the 1970s and 1980s.

The 3d Service Battalion was commissioned on September 16, 1942 at Camp Elliott, San Diego, California. [2] [3] During World War II the battalion took part in combat operations at Bougainville, [4] Guam, [5] and Iwo Jima. [6] Following the war the battalion was decommissioned on December 28, 1945 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. [2]
