The store was sold to Busbys of Bradford in 1953 who rebranded the store under the Busbys name. Busbys was itself purchased by Debenhams in 1958. Banff Lodging Co was founded in 1985 by Wim Pauw when he acquired Caribou Corner, his first commercial mall. The company started with commercial buildings in downtown Banff, Alberta and launched its hospitality business with the opening of its first hotel and restaurant The Banff Caribou Lodge and The Keg .
Two years later, Hudson's Bay Company announced plans for their store and mall to be built adjacent to Richmond Square. The two malls were separated by a small road (where upper parking meets the new food court today). They functioned as separate shopping centres until 1989 when they amalgamated into one large mall known today as Richmond Centre.

The original Banff & Macduff station closed on 1 July 1872. All the lines suffered from mid-20th century railway cuts, with Banff Bridge station closing by the end of 1951, and Banff Harbour (known simply as Banff from 1928) closing on 6 July 1964. The nearest open stations are Huntly and Keith, both around twenty miles (thirty kilometres) away.

In May 2024, the mall was renamed "The Shops at Pickering City Centre". [7]
