    Maybe they don't teach this in school these days. There are several Hollywood treatments and TV films about the guy. His name was always pronounced "Nate", not "Nat." I can't find anything yet stating why he, or others, spelled his name that way, which really isn't surprising, as people can spell and pronounce their names any way they like.
