Casper the Friendly Ghost is a fictional character who serves as the protagonist of the Famous Studios theatrical animated cartoon series of the same name. He is a translucent ghost who is pleasant and personable, [4] but often criticized by his three wicked uncles, the Ghostly Trio.
Spooky is written with a Brooklyn accent, for example calling his girlfriend and fellow ghost Pearl, "Poil".His iconic derby hat is, therefore, a "doiby". The show consisted of Famous Studios-produced cartoons from 1950 to 1962.There were 223 theatrical cartoons released during that period, and only 165 cartoons were included in their full format, although the original theatrical titles were changed when Harvey assumed ownership from Famous.
Originally, Casper was featured on the show with ghost relatives who looked similar and liked to scare people. These relatives did not appear to have special traits or serve any other purpose. In Casper's earlier appearances in Harvey's animated cartoons and comic books, the Ghostly Trio were depicted differently, although they were brothers.
The banker orders Casper to tell the mother he has come for a mortgage payment, but then he realizes that Casper is a ghost. Terrified, he tears up the mortgage which he tells Casper to keep (because he doesn't want to have a "haunted" house on the market) and runs off in fright, so fast that he sets a bridge on fire.

Numerous Casper cartoons were released on home video by Universal Studios (via MCA Inc.). In 2011, Shout!Factory released a DVD set titled Casper the Friendly Ghost: The Complete Collection - 1945-1963 which contains The Friendly Ghost, There's Good Boos To-Night, A Haunting We Will Go, all 55 theatrical cartoons, and all 26 episodes of The New Casper Cartoon Show.
