Niamh Kavanagh (/ ˈ n iː v ˈ k æ v ə n ɑː / NEEV KAV-ə-nah; born 13 February 1968) is an Irish singer who sang the winning entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993. The 1993 Eurovision Song Contest was held in Millstreet , County Cork , Republic of Ireland.
Ireland was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 with the song "In Your Eyes", written by Jimmy Walsh, and performed by Niamh Kavanagh.The Irish participating broadcaster, Radio Telefís Éireann (RTÉ), selected its entry through a national final, which ultimately won the contest.
On 14 March 1993, "In Your Eyes" performed by Kavanagh competed in the national selection organised by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) to select its song and performer for the 38th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The song won the competition so it became the Irish entrant –and Kavanagh the performer– for Eurovision. [3]
Niamh Kavanagh once again took part in dress rehearsals on 28 and 29 May before the final, including the jury final where the professional juries cast their final votes before the live show. Niamh Kavanagh performed a repeat of her semi-final performance during the final on 29 May. Ireland placed twenty-third in the final, scoring 25 points.
