K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen was a Cajun and Creole restaurant in the French Quarter owned by Paul Prudhomme that closed in 2020. [1] [2] Prudhomme and his wife Kay Hinrichs Prudhomme opened the restaurant in 1979. The restaurant is “credited with helping put New Orleans on the culinary map” and popularizing Cajun cuisine. [3]

This was also the era when some of New Orleans' most famous restaurants were founded. Galatoire's, at 209 Bourbon Street [ 11 ] was established by Jean Galatoire in 1905. Known for years by its characteristic line snaking down Bourbon Street, patrons waited for hours just to get a table, especially on Fridays.
The main entrance, a French door, leads into the first-floor dining room. The first-floor dining room is a mix of high ceilings, slow-moving paddle fans, and mirrored opposing walls, maintaining much of the look of a mid-19th century restaurant. The second-floor dining rooms, opened in 1999, comprise smaller rooms overlooking Bourbon Street.
In 2008, the restaurant was inducted into the Culinary Institute of America Hall of Fame.
