Presta valves are thinner than Schrader valves, so can fit through a smaller hole. For bicycle rims which are narrow and lightweight (thus highly stressed), a smaller hole makes the rim and wheel stronger. For most other uses, the difference in strength is too small to matter. Presta valves can use a push-on air chuck with a simple diaphragm seal.
It has a connection or adapter for use with one or both of the two most common types of valves used on bicycles, Schrader or Presta. A third type of valve called the Dunlop (or Woods) valve exists, but tubes with these valves can be filled using a Presta pump. [1] [2] Several basic types are available: Floor pumps; Frame-mounted; Compact or ...
Has a Schrader, "Woods"/"Dunlop" or Presta valve for inflation and deflation; Jockey wheel or Pulley wheel: one of two small sprockets of the rear derailleur that guides the chain; Kickstand: a folding attachment used for assisting a bicycle to stand up on its own. Usually mounts to frame near bottom bracket, sometimes near rear dropouts
Presta valves (also called Sclaverand valves or French valves) are normally only used on bicycles. The stem has a narrower diameter (nominally 6 mm) than the thinnest (nominally 8 mm) Schrader type, and so the bore of the hole in the rim through which the stem passes can be smaller. Has a locknut that needs to be opened to inflate/deflate. [17 ...
The Dunlop valve, (also called a Woods valve, an English valve or a Blitz valve [1]) is a type of pneumatic valve stem in use—mostly on inner tubes of bicycles—in many countries, including Japan, [2] Korea, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, most European countries, and a number of developing countries.

Schrader valves are also viewed as more complex (requiring two seals over one). They weigh 4 to 5 grams (0.14 to 0.18 oz) more than Presta valves. [8] Schrader and Dunlop valve stems are 8 mm in diameter, whereas Presta valve stems are 6 mm, allowing Prestas to be used on narrower, high-performance rims as on road racing bicycles. Another ...
