Route 77 starts at Rhode Island Road in southern Little Compton. It runs in a northerly direction and intersects Route 179. Continuing north past Route 177, Route 77 passes through downtown Tiverton. It continues north, directly paralleling the Sakonnet River, until it reaches its northern terminus at Route 24.

The Little Compton Commons Historic District, or Little Compton Commons, is a historic district in Little Compton, Rhode Island. It is a triangular area roughly bounded by School House Lane to the north, South Commons Road to the east, and Meeting House Lane to the south. Properties continue to the west on West Road. [2]
Together with the adjacent town of Little Compton, the area is disconnected from the rest of the state of Rhode Island. The northern portion of the town is located on Mount Hope Bay . Much of the town is located along a granite ridge which runs in a north–south direction, rising approximately 170 feet in elevation from the bay.
