A lawn sweeper, also known as a leaf sweeper or lawn brush, is a garden tool for the mechanical removal of debris, such as fallen leaves, pine needles, twigs, grass clippings or litter, from a lawn or paved area. Lawn sweepers operate via a rotating brush mechanism that sweeps up the debris and deposits it in a collection hopper for disposal.
The Toro Company was established as the "Toro Motor Company" in 1914 to build tractor engines for The Bull Tractor Company. [4] It built steam engines to support war efforts during World War I, and changed its name to Toro Manufacturing Company in 1920 when it began to refocus on manufacturing farm equipment. [5]
In 1954 MTD entered the garden equipment industry with its introduction of a line of wheelbarrows. In 1958 MTD entered the lawn and garden power equipment industry with the production of an 18-inch (46 cm) power rotary mower. In 1959 MTD began manufacturing self-propelled lawn mowers, garden tractors and other power equipment.
Small tilling equipment, used in small gardens such as household gardens and small commercial gardens, can provide both primary and secondary tillage. For example, a rotary tiller does both the "plowing" and the "harrowing", preparing a smooth, loose seedbed. It does not provide the row-wise weed control that cultivator teeth would.

[1] of Selma, Alabama, and the Flex-Wing by RhinoAg of Gibson City, Illinois.The formal name for this type of implement is a rotary cutter or rotary mower, although it differs from mowers in that it does not cut with a sharp blade, but rather severs with an intentionally very dull wedge-like blade.
