Pinnacle Peak and its surrounding area became a part of the Arizona State Trust Land. In the 1980s, the area was annexed into Scottsdale and was established as a 185-acre (75 ha) park. The "mountain" is beside Slip Down Road, and has a steep limestone cliff on the west side. The high point is privately owned.
