Tennessee has 59 designated state parks, operated by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). The largest park, Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail, is made up of land along the Cumberland Trail, stretching from Cumberland Gap at the Virginia state line to Prentice Cooper State Forest in Marion County, just northwest of Chattanooga. The 1,368 acres (5.54 km 2) nature preserve lies just outside Nashville. Five miles of unpaved trails wander through the woods surrounding the lake.
Edgar Evins State Park is a state park in DeKalb County, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The park consists of 6,300 acres (25 km 2) along the shores of Center Hill Lake, an impoundment of the Caney Fork. The State of Tennessee leases the land from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Harrison Bay State Park is a 1,200-acre (4.9 km 2) state demonstration park developed by the Tennessee Valley Authority in the 1930s along the shores of Chickamauga Lake. Opened in 1937, the bay gets it name from the now partially submerged town of Harrison, Tennessee. It was built at the same time as Booker T. Washington State Park. [3]

In 1955, the territory became a state park because park duties returned to state control, and park and forest lands were deeded to the state.
Bledsoe Creek State Park is situated just off Tennessee State Route 25 (Hartsville Pike), roughly halfway between Gallatin and Hartsville, and 35 miles (56 km) northeast of Nashville. The park is located entirely in Sumner County.
Indian Mountain State Park is a state park in Campbell County, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States.Established in 1971, the park consists of 213 acres (0.86 km 2) situated at the base of Indian Mountain, a 1,949-foot (594 m) summit that overlooks the Elk Valley in the Cumberland Mountains.
