Picked up a Ruger SP101 about 3 weeks ago. I've taken it out twice, shooting a total of about 130 rounds (mixed bag of 158 grain .38+P and full house .357 loads). I've run into a couple of issues (one of which could possibly be due to my inexperience with revolvers). First and foremost, i've had problems with what I believe to be called ...
The Fully Adjustable Rear and FO Front Sights are nice. Yes, the Trigger, out of the Box is not great, but can be tuned by respringing it. I have a Gen 1 (6 Shoot) SP101, Half Lug (in both .22lr and .22WMR) and it is a real joy to shoot. Its Rear Sight is only adjustable for Windage though.
New Sp101 Hammer Sticking. I just bought a new Sp101 in 357 mag. I was dry firing to get used to the trigger and doing some real slow trigger pulls in single action. It would creep just a tad then break but the hammer would only move an 1/8 of an inch and stay. If I pulled hard through it the hammer would drop.

Lots of guys saying they had tons of issues with spitting lead, unmanageable trigger weight etc. I haven’t shot it yet, but it doesn’t appear to have a ...
Jeff is merely pointing out that the .327 magnum has been brutalized by folks on the gun forums. The SP101 "is" one of the best DA revolvers out there. There is no fluff in his assessment of the gun. If he didn't say that, I would think that there was a bias in the article.
SP101 vs. Kimber K6S. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I bought a brand new SP101 that had to go back to the factory twice with problems. In a fit of anger, I bought a Kimber K6S while I was waiting for the SP101 to become a working firearm. At first glance, the K6S is better in just about every way. The trigger is WAY better.

When I pull the trigger (DAO) back slowly the hammer stops requiring more pressure to get it beyond that point. This problem always occurs when the hammer gets back 1/ ...
The sp101 327 Fed appeared to be an ideal matching of revolver / ammo. Received the gun in January 2019 and immediately returned it to Ruger. Production burs and cylinder problems were resolved. American Eagle and Federal factory ammo had sticky extraction and flat primers.
Video 1: This is the actual issue. An overly vigorous trigger release (ie: finger flying off the trigger) works fine MOST of the time, but any time the trigger rides your finger forward (as one would do when exercising proper trigger control) it doesnt reset fully. Video 2: if i give it a lil wrist flick, it clicks.

When it comes to SP101 at 327 Caliber, there are only two options: 3 inch barrel with fixed rear sight (5784), or 4.2 inch with adjustable sight (5773). I opted for the former.
