Alejandro G. Abadilla (March 10, 1906 – August 26, 1969), commonly known as AGA, was a Filipino poet, essayist, and fiction writer.Critic Pedro Ricarte referred to Abadilla as the father of modern Philippine poetry, and was known for challenging established forms and literature's "excessive romanticism and emphasis on rhyme and meter". As a writer, San Juan won various competitions and was chosen Mananaysay ng Taon (Essayist of the Year) in 2009 and Makata ng Taon (Poet of the Year) in 2010 by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF or Commission on the Filipino Language).

Rogelio Mangahas is a Palanca first prize winner for his collection of poems, "Mga Duguang Plakard" and for his critical essay on Edgardo M. Reyes's novel, "Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag." He co-authored and edited Manlilikha, an anthology of poems, considered by some critics as a monumental achievement in modern Filipino poetry in the 1960s. [2]
Opposite Mario O'Hara, he co-wrote the screenplay for Lino Brocka's film Insiang (1976), the first Philippine film to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 1978. He was the author of several critically acclaimed books - Hagkis ng Talahib (1971), Pagsalubong sa Habagat (1986 National Book Award for Poetry), and Pingkian at Apat Pang Aklat ng Tunggalian (1997 National Book Award for Poetry).
