"Cielito Lindo" is a Mexican folk song or copla popularized in 1882 by Mexican author Quirino Mendoza y Cortés (c. 1862 – 1957). [1] It is roughly translated as "Lovely Sweet One". Although the word cielo means "sky" or "heaven", it is also a term of endearment comparable to "sweetheart" or "honey".
There are several different choruses for this song. One of the most popular in the United States of America is sung to the tune of the traditional Mexican song, "Cielito Lindo" and usually goes like this: I-Yi-Yi-Yi, In China, they never eat chili So here comes another verse worse than the other verse So waltz me around again, Willie.
