Waller is a city in Harris and Waller counties in Texas, United States, that is within the Houston–Cypress metropolitan area. Its population was 2,682 at the 2020 U.S. census . [ 4 ] The Waller area is located along U.S. Route 290 ( Northwest Freeway ) 41 miles (66 km) northwest of downtown Houston .
The Manor was built between 1734 and 1737 by Joshua Blanchard for the wealthy merchant Thomas Hancock (1703–1764). It was the first house to be erected on the top of Beacon Hill west of the summit and stood alone with no westward neighbor until around 1768, when the portrait painter John Singleton Copley built a house farther down the slope.
The land that is now Liendo Plantation was granted to José Justo Liendo in 1828, when the region was a part of Mexico. [6] In 1841, Leonard Waller Groce purchased the plot, making the land into a working cotton plantation, [4] adding a plantation house to the site in 1853. [3]
