Bhilwara has a rich cultural heritage, with several festivals and fairs celebrated throughout the year. The city's most famous festival is the Gangaur festival, which is celebrated in the months of March and April.
Originally, MLVTEC was a polytechnic college as the joint venture of the government of Rajasthan and the Bhilwara group of industries (now known as the LNJ Bhilwara group). It was upgraded to a full engineering institute in 1988. The goal of the institute was to produce textile technocrats to fulfill the industrial demand of Bhilwara.
The college is affiliated to Rajasthan University of Health Sciences and is recognised by Medical Council of India. The selection to the college is done on the basis of merit through National Eligibility and Entrance Test. Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Bhilwara and Mother & Child hospital, Bhilwara are the associated hospitals with this college.
In 1971-72, the control of the Govt. School of Art & Craft Assam was transferred to the newly created Directorate of Cultural Affairs from the Directorate of Public Instructions. In 1979 twenty bighas of land was allocated to the School of Art, under auspicious endeavors of Sri Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa, when he was the D.C. Kamrup.
The art of Phad painting was traditionally practiced exclusively by the Joshi community. However, in 1960, Shree Lal Joshi established a school called Joshi Kala Kendra to teach this art form to everyone. Today, the school is known as Chitrashala and is located in Bhilwara city, Rajasthan. [6] [7]
