Hinesburg is the primary village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Hinesburg, Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census , it had a population of 872, [ 2 ] out of 4,698 in the entire town of Hinesburg.

The village is in southeastern Chittenden County, in the northwest part of the town of Huntington, in the valley of the Huntington River, a north-flowing tributary of the Winooski River. It is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north of Huntington Center, 8 miles (13 km) east of Hinesburg, and 7 miles (11 km) south of Richmond.
In 1918, the central village of the town of Newport was united with the adjacent village of West Derby to form the city of Newport. [ 2 ] The city's main downtown area remains that of the original village, set on a small peninsula jutting eastward into the southernmost finger of the lake.
