The University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City originated as a medical school within the University of Saigon, established in 1947 during the period of French Indochina. Professor C. Massias served as the principal. It was initially located at 28 Testard/Tran Quy Cap Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (now Vo Van Tan Street).
