Jean-Luc Ponty (born 29 September 1942) [1] is a French jazz and jazz fusion violinist and composer. He is considered a pioneer of jazz-rock, particularly for his use of the electric violin starting in the 1970s.

[3] It features guitarists Allan Holdsworth and Daryl Stuermer, keyboardist Allan Zavod, bassist Ralphe Armstrong (with whom Ponty had played in Mahavishnu Orchestra), and drummer Steve Smith. It reached #1 on the Billboard Jazz album chart in 1977.
