The second campus of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS-II), spread over 330 acres (1.335 square kilometres) of land was visualized during the period of Prof. Tirath Das Dogra as Director AIIMS Delhi and Anbumani Ramadoss (President, AIIMS), Minister of Health and Family welfare union of India in 2009 at Bhadsha village [also spelled Badsa] in Haryana's Jhajjar district.
The institute accepts medical students from other countries for elective training in any of its departments. Clearance from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and National Medical Commission, New Delhi is required before the students are accepted. The process takes about 3–4 months.
The college runs in the PGIMER, New Delhi building attached to the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital campus. It has state-of-the-art lecture theatres, dissection hall, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology labs and a state-of-the-art library.
The institute is located on 649.72 acres (2.6293 km 2) residential campus on Raebareli Road. The institute offers degrees recognized by the National Medical Commission.It provides tertiary-level medical care, teaching, training, and research for specialties.
The foundation stone of AIIMS Delhi was laid in 1952. [2] The first AIIMS was established in 1956 under the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956. AIIMS Deoghar was set up as part of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) initiative, announced by the Government of India in 2003 and officially launched in March 2006, for the purpose of "correcting regional imbalances in the availability of affordable/reliable tertiary healthcare services", through setting up AIIMS Delhi-like institutions and upgrading government medical colleges.
