The Saleen S281 is a variant introduced between the 4th and 5th generations of Ford Mustang which was produced by the American manufacturer Saleen, Inc. By 2005, Saleen departed from being a company of modifying existing Ford Mustangs as well as various other Ford automobiles, and became an Original equipment manufacturer.
The Mach 1 used a non-supercharged aluminum block with DOHC with only a forged crank on manual models. The Cobra used a 4.6 DOHC V8 as well, however it was a cast-iron block with forged internals and a supercharger, they are commonly mistaken to have the same block. It was conservatively rated at 305 hp (310 hp in 2004).
The 2010 Mustang GT added a more powerful version of the 4.6 L V8 seen in 2005–2009 Mustang GTs. The Mustang GT's revised V8 produced 315 bhp (235 kW) at 6000 rpm and 325 lb⋅ft (441 N⋅m) of torque at 4250 rpm.
