[1] His students included Neil Ardley, John Barry, Patrick Gowers, Mark Hollmann, Fred Karlin, Richard Peaslee, Joseph Reiser, Louis Rosen, Kenny Wheeler and Albert Williams. Russo composed more than 200 pieces for jazz orchestra, and there were more than 30 recordings of his work.
