The 2024–25 Oral Roberts Golden Eagles men's basketball team represents Oral Roberts University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.The Golden Eagles, led by second-year head coach Russell Springmann, play their home games at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as members of the Summit League.
The Golden Eagles finished the 2023–24 season 21–11, 11–5 in Summit League play, to finish in third place.Oral Roberts entered the Summit League tournament as the number three seed, and they defeated North Dakota [1] in the quarterfinals before falling to North Dakota State in the semifinals. [2]
Mabee Center is a 10,094-seat multi-purpose arena, located on the campus of Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. [1] The building opened in 1972 and was designed by architect Frank Wallace, who designed most of the buildings on the ORU campus.
Mabee Center also annually hosts the Oklahoma state high school playoffs and the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-Star games. It was also the former site of the NAIA National Basketball Championship. Mabee Center regularly plays host to various conventions, conferences, seminars, and special events such as the annual Miss Oklahoma pageant.
Oral Roberts University (ORU) is a private evangelical university in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Founded in 1963, the university is named after its founder, Charismatic Christian preacher Oral Roberts . Sitting on a 385-acre (156-hectare) campus, ORU offers over 70 undergraduate degree programs along with 20 graduate programs across six colleges.
The Golden Eagles themselves played in the first NCAA tournament held here in 1974. Four other NCAA regionals (1975, 1978, 1982 and 1985) have been based at the Mabee Center. The National Invitation Tournament picked ORU as host four times (1977, 1980, 1982 and 1983).
The series has seen three interruptions in its history: four seasons spanning 1987 to 1991 when Oral Roberts dropped to NAIA status; in 2010-11 when Tulsa would not agree to a date for the contracted game at ORU's Mabee Center, and 2020-21 when TU opted out of games at Arkansas and ORU due to COVID issues in the program.
