Hanako is the Veronica because he's a ghost who loves teasing Nene and intrigues her with his mysterious past. Kou is the Betty because he's a living human like Nene and has a much nicer personality that makes Nene think of him as a good friend.
Usually, Hanako holds hands with characters palm-to-palm in most pictures. He breaks away from this habit only with Nene, and instead intertwines his fingers with hers.
