NA-236 Karachi East-II (این اے-236، کراچی مشرقی-٢) is a newly-created constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan, created during the 2018 delimitation. It primarily covers the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Subdivision and census charges 12 and 13 of Jamshed Quarters .
Gulshan-e-Iqbal was populated in 1966 under Scheme 24 of Karachi Development Authority. [3] The name "Gulshan-e-Iqbal" means "the garden of Iqbal", referring to the national poet of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal. It has notable gardens. [4] The municipal infrastructure of Gulshan-e-Iqbal has been in poor condition since 1992.

On 11 July 2015, the Sindh Government restored Karachi East District. [8] In November 2013, three eastern towns of Karachi East District separated to form a new District named Korangi also Jamshed Town of Karachi South District was added into this district.
