Van Wert is a city in and the county seat of Van Wert County, Ohio, United States. [6] It is located in northwestern Ohio approximately 77 miles (124 km) southwest of Toledo and 34 miles (55 km) southeast of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The population was 11,092 at the 2020 census.
Until 2018, it had facilities for curling and has an 18-hole golf course that is ranked among the top courses in Canada. [ 1 ] The club was founded in 1912 by stockbroker A.E. Ames. [ 2 ] Its 144-acre (58 ha) [ 2 ] site is located in the Woburn neighbourhood, approximately 12 miles (19 km) from downtown Toronto.

[2] The county was created on February 12, 1820, and later organized on March 18, 1837. [3] It is named for Isaac Van Wart, one of the captors of John André in the American Revolutionary War. [4]
