Hillsdale is an unincorporated community in Scott Township, Vanderburgh County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. [1]Its main feature is a commercial center consisting of a Beuhler's IGA, a Subway, Gracie's Chinese Cuisine, Noble Romans, a Fifth-Third Bank, a Heritage Federal Credit Union, a driving school, and a Papa John's Pizza location.
A post office has been in operation at Hillsdale since 1872. [3] The town was laid out in 1873. [4] The community was so named on account of its lofty elevation. [5] Its early businesses were located at the bottom of the hill, near the railroad depot, but most of the houses were built higher up on the hillside.
