Public uses of the WMAs vary from area to area, but typically includes hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, and camping. As of the 2007–2008 season over 768,000 acres (3,110 km 2) of land was under management as part of Alabama WMAs from the north Alabama mountains down to Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico coast. [1]
It is located approximately 70 miles (110 km) south of the Kissimmee - Disney World area of Central Florida. The management area is situated near Lake Kissimmee, Lake Jackson and Lake Marian. It comprises 62,000 acres (25,000 ha) including parts of the Kissimmee Prairie.

While in the past the state enjoyed a variety of mammals such as plains bison, eastern elk, North American cougar, bear, and deer, only the white-tailed deer remains abundant.
Only three Florida species live in caves: the eastern pipistrelle, the gray bat and the southeastern myotis. Florida has the highest concentration of southeastern myotis in the world. [5] The greatest threat to bats in Florida is the disturbance or destruction of roost sites, due to either vandalism or urban development. [5]
