Dell City ISD served grades 9-12 from that area after the opening of Alamogordo district's grade 1-8 Cienega School in 1965. In 1967 the eighth grade was moved to Dell City ISD. In 1970, all grades K-12 were sent to Dell City ISD as Cienega School closed. [11] As of 2020 the agreement is still in place. [12]
