Chickasaw State Park is a state park located in Chester County, Tennessee, in the Southeastern United States. The park consists of 1,280 acres (5 km 2 ) amidst a 14,384 acres (58 km 2 ) state forest and includes Lake Placid, Lake Lajoie, and some of West Tennessee's highest areas.
The park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) between 1934 and 1942 on about 12,000 acres (49 km 2) of land donated to the State of Tennessee in 1933 by the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company. CCC crews built hiking trails, a recreation lodge, a ranger station, five rustic cabins, and a 12-acre (4.9 ha) lake known as Arch Lake.
The park contains a golf course, a 119-room inn, ten cabins, two campgrounds, two picnic pavilions, a restaurant called The Captain's Galley and a marina. The main campground has 48 sites, each equipped with a picnic table, grill and utility hookups. The other, Bruton Branch Campground, has 33 sites. [2]
