The chart compiles the numbers between the first of a month and the last of a month. It will be released around the 10th of the following month, because most of the data is not completely available before the 2nd. The non-traditonal fighting game chart will be released around the 15th and will be posted only on r/Kappa.
Seems right to me, as it only counts Steam user base and is only playable by those who pre-ordered. Plus it is quite late in the night (here in Europe). I am sure over time this will even grow more, after many players downloaded it over night.
Steam charts is useful to indicate that a game is a success. For example, the steam numbers alone os enough to prove games like Destiny 2 and New World are big hits. However, It doesnt mean a game is a flop because the steam numbers are not great. For example, FIFA steam numbers are far from great, but you can bet the numbers from consoles are ...
I'm seeing 16.6k vs 13.4k for PD2 vs PD3 right now. steam is like 10% of the players at this point…. pretty much all pc players are on gamepass and the rest on console. using steam charts is like using twitch numbers its a useless metric lmao. I see 14k vs 40k (PD3 vs PD2) last 24h and 11k vs 14k right now, anyway:

For example if I go to Halo MCC page and select All, the graph is accurate only starting with June 2020, the data before shows only MONTHLY average. It is same for other games, it used to show DAILY values throughout ...
AFAIK most of the sites that gather stats on people playing/online/own it are pulling from public profiles (ie scraping). Most publishers don't really release ...
Community for THE FINALS, a free-to-play, team-based, first-person shooter that pushes environmental dynamism, destruction, and player freedom to the limits. Friendly Reminder to stop looking at Steam Charts. The Finals is fine. In case anyone didn't see this earlier this month, The Finals is fine. Steam is not accounting for the majority of ...
Some people are reading Steam Charts wrongly. Please don't misunderstand the numbers. "12,290 Avg. Players" means there is an average of 12K players online at any time when the Steam Charts tracker is doing its scraping. Peak is the highest number of players online at the same time on that day/month. That "12,059 players playing 15 min ago ...

Example, I play ESO. Steam charts always has it around 30-70k players depending on content and updates. I can tell you that game has waaaaaaaaay more players because people use the actual ESO launcher. Not steam. Sure maybe crossout lost 2k players on steam but how many new players filter in through their website and stand alone launcher.
