The town also operates several beaches, boat landings, and small parks, and has a historical society and museum called the Centers for Culture and History in Orleans [22] which meets in the town's original meeting house (across the street from the current Town Hall). Orleans is the site of a county courthouse, which serves much of the lower Cape.
It was acquired by the council in 1738, and after accommodating various council officials, it became the town hall in 1790. [5] [6] A major refurbishment was carried out in the mid-19th century and the building re-opened again in May 1855. [7] In the early 1970s, the council decided to commission modern premises.
The building became the town Hall of Orléans in 1790 (weddings are still celebrated inside), before the council moved to the current Hôtel de Ville in 1981. [ 27 ] The hôtel de la Vieille Intendance (early 15th century) (otherwise named hôtel Brachet, formerly "The King's house"), real gothic-renaissance style château made of bricks. [ 28 ]

The Orleans CDP consists of the main settlement in the town of Orleans, located in the northern part of the town. It is bordered to the north by the town of Eastham, to the northwest by Cape Cod Bay, to the southwest by the town of Brewster, to the south by Massachusetts Route 6A and Eldredge Parkway, and to the east by Massachusetts Route 28 and Town Cove.
