A microwave oven or simply microwave is an electric oven that heats and cooks food by exposing it to electromagnetic radiation in the microwave frequency range. [1] This induces polar molecules in the food to vibrate [ 2 ] and produce thermal energy in a process known as dielectric heating .
In 1961 it introduced the first integrated cooker units in Europe, built into other kitchen units - the built-in oven. Also in the same year they began selling larger microwave cookers for commercial uses. By 1970 it was branching out into providing for the full range of units to make up a fitted kitchen.
In 1976, Thermador introduced the first "Speedcooking" oven, which combined thermal heat with microwave energy to cook up to 35 percent faster than conventional ovens. Thermador was bought in 1998 by BSH (Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte), then a joint Bosch-Siemens company, but since 2015 solely owned by the Bosch company.
