The State Plane Coordinate System (SPCS) is a set of 125 geographic zones or coordinate systems designed for specific regions of the United States. Each U.S. state contains one or more state plane zones, the boundaries of which usually follow county lines.
The State Plane Coordinate System (SPCS), which is only used in the United States, is a plane coordinate system (north-south and east-west lines are perpendicular) in which each individual state has between one to six zones, depending on the state's size and shape.
State Plane Coordinate System of 2022 (SPCS2022) SPCS2022 is the third generation of SPCS. The first version was created in the 1930s (SPCS 27) and the second in the 1980s (SPCS 83) as part of providing access to the horizontal datums current at the time of their creation.
stateplane.org. State Plane Coordinate System. Rick King compiled and organized the information on this page, long hosted at the now defunct home.comcast.net/~rickking04/gis/spc.htm. A quick Google search shows almost 400 links to that page from across the geospatial community, from universities to professionals to students.
In the early 1930s, the United States started building the State Plane Coordinate System (SPCS) to pinpoint any location with a high level of accuracy (less than 1:10,000). It was primarily designed to be a system to permanently record original land survey monuments.
These web pages provide information on SPCS history, current status, existing and past zone configurations, and coordinate conversions. The map below shows the full extents and all zones of the 1927 and 1983 versions of SPCS.
The State Plane Coordinate system divides the U.S. into. a hundred or more distinct grid surfaces (Zones). Do not mix coordinates from one Zone with that in another. In you need to cross Zone boundaries, use Geodetic Positions. The utilities in this package provide methods for converting.
This manual explains how to perform computations on the State Plane Coordinate System of 1983 (SPCS 83). It supplements Coast and Geodetic Survey Special Publication No. 235, "The State coordinate systems," and replaces Coast and Geodetic Survey Publication 62-4, "State plane coordinates by automatic data processing.''
The State Plane Coordinate System (SPCS) is a system of conformal map projections created by the National Geodetic Survey (NGS). SPCS was established to support surveying, engineering,
