For those who don’t know, Freeview is the UK’s digital terrestrial TV platform. Hard to remember now, but Sky used to have what Manhattan TV describes as a ‘vice-like grip’ on the TV satellite market. The introduction of Freeview and Freesat subscription-free services transformed the landscape for TV guzzlers in the UK, and rightly so.

Thanks to Freeview Play there's also a complete set of UK TV on-demand services, which are fully integrated into the TV guide. If all you want is a PVR, the T3-R is the better option because watching TV, scheduling and playing recordings couldn't be easier.

Until we can stream content consistently in at least the same quality as linear TV (1080 HD, 5.1 audio) PVRs, be they Freeview or Freesat, will have a place. Add in the ability to skip endless inane ads, I wonder why so many people seem happy steaming low quality (occasional iPlayer 4K stream, but with 2.0 aside) ad-infested content, when a PVR ...

What I'm trying to do is find a workaround to the appalling hardware and software on the Philips TV. While recording freeview, you can't watch another freeview channel, Satellite, any terrestrial app eg iPlayer, ITVX, Ch4, CH5. If I can get Freeview working on my firestick, I can watch another channel while recording.

Freeview Play, for the uninitiated, is a subscription free, hybrid service encompassing live TV, catch-up and on-demand apps which launched in 2015 and is backed by the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, among others, and billed as a simple but effective way to make your TV smarter. Unlike YouView, Freeview Play isn’t a fixed software platform which ...

The 7-day forward EPG is non-proprietary and their sets likely conform to the previous Freeview HD specs, including HbbTV for smart stuff. Google and read this forum and others (inc Samsung's own!) wrt this TVPlus 'feature'. Also go to John Lewis and get the sales staff to show you how to tune in the Freeview channels, and operate the TV.

I have an LG B9 OLED TV and had Freeview tuned in since I bought it in August 2019, including the HD channels: BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 which are channels 101 to 105. However, about two weeks ago I noticed that the Quick Access on the remote was missing these channels from the 1 to 5 buttons.
