An article published on April 1, 1971, in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported that the "Lisa Smith" treated at Novato General Hospital was the same person as the missing 17-year-old Lisa Smith. The individual believed to have been Smith left the hospital before authorities could interview her and purportedly hitchhiked back to San Francisco .

James Francis was a merchant, rancher, and silver miner. His brother, George M. Francis, was the owner of Napa Valley Register newspaper in the City of Napa. The structure was built in 2nd Empire style. [2] Francis commissioned the home to be built with stone quarried nearby and the home stood 26 feet high.
[2] [3] [4] By 1864, the newspaper had dropped “Valley” from its name, becoming simply the Napa Register, [5] until returning to the original name over a century later. [6] The Register moved to daily publication in 1872. George M. Francis became sole owner of the Register in 1878, upon the death of his business partner.
The Press Democrat headquarters in Santa Rosa. The newspaper was founded in 1897 by Ernest L. Finley, who merged his Evening Press and Thomas Thompson's Sonoma Democrat (originally created as a voice for the Democratic Party). Finley bought the Santa Rosa Republican in 1927 and merged it with The Press Democrat in 1948.
