Drishti (transl. Vision) is a 1990 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Govind Nihalani, starring Dimple Kapadia, Shekhar Kapur and Irrfan. The film depicts the marital life of an urban couple from an upper-class milieu in Mumbai and follows their trials and tribulations, infidelity, divorce, and meeting after years of separation.
Nihalani was born on 19 December 1940 in Karachi, Sindh province (now in Pakistan) and his family migrated to India during the partition of 1947. He graduated in cinematography from the Shree Jaya Chamrajendra polytechnic (the present Government Film and Television Institute ) [ 3 ] in Bangalore in 1962.
He wrote several books for NCERT on modern and contemporary India and on other countries in collaboration with his wife, Indira Arjun Dev. His History of the World: From the Late 19th to the Early 20th Century was discontinued by the NCERT during the National Democratic Alliance's government, but was republished by Orient Blackswan in 2002.
