The 2021 American Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament was the postseason tournament held March 8–11, 2021, in the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. South Florida won the tournament, its first, and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. [1] [2]
The 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season began in November 2020 and ended with the championship game of the 2021 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on April 4, 2021. Practices officially began in October 2020.
It is a single-elimination tournament that involves all league schools. Its seeding is based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA women's basketball tournament, however the official conference championship is awarded to the team or teams with the best regular season record.
The Knights finished their regular season 22–3 and were American Athletic Conference champions at 14–1, winning the conference tournament and an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, where they defeated Florida in the first round before losing to UConn in the second round.
